Let the paint begin!

Mike felt this burst of motivation and look at it all come together - This vanity has been in our garage since December when Chris and Bill unloaded it before we went caroling in the neighborhood.  Now we can finally ENJOY it.

Flooring is complete and ready for the MAIN EVENT

That's right - the TOILET is IN, the mirrors are IN and for all intensive purposes, we are DONE.  

I LOVE their schedule.  Tools were cleared out and everything.  Dumpster left the following weekend giving us a bit more time to purge.  we adjusted the paint a bit to bring more grey and less color letting the fixtures do all the color bringing...

Now the part I really hate......All of this stuff WILL NOT/SHOULD NOT fit.

 

Connection with previous owner Debbie

Cool story, when I posted the tubs, sink and toilet for free - the previous homeowner noticed and reached out to me saying she had always wanted to redo the bathroom but just hadn't gotten to it. 

I was thrilled with the connection.  She LOVED asking what we have done to the home and we swapped lots of photos.  Best bit of intel - the wall color for the hallway!

Now for our amusement - some B&As for the home via Debbie.  She bought the house without her husband even seeing it! These were the photos used to list the home when Debbie purchase it.

The family room

She changed out the red carpet

We changed the carpet to LVT

She painted it and removed the molding

We painted it again including the mantel.  

We removed the niche shelving and added an insulated door to the garage when we converted the garage to a real garage

We did the gas fireplace too

The living room

She changed it to just a chair rail and painted it

She added the wood floors

We removed the chair rail, painted it (to include the mantel)

We also added the pellet stove

She changed the stairway carpet and spindles and painted it

We added the trim (and cannot WAIT to replace the floors one day)

Dining room (they really loved their curtains right?!?!)

She opened the room up and painted it

We added the trim under the chair rail and painted it.

still loving how we changed the angle of the dining room table to create additional flow through the home.

I continue to ignore the popcorn ceiling

Kitchen

She did the counters (HUGE!) and got rid of LOTS of wallpaper, added lighting and removed the popcorn ceiling

We changed out the appliances and with Diane's help - PAINTED the cabinets.  That was the FIRST home project!

again, the floors need to GO!

 

Love the progress!!

WE LOVE everything about the progress.  These guys are rolling.  Selections are being purchased, sheetrock is being added, its taking shape!!  Since we moved in there is a VENT at the top of the stairs.  It was an access panel for the jacuzzi tub.  With the tub gone, so can this vent be!

Blue mat is the beginnings of radiant floor heat - #cannotwait!

So this is what we were sleeping with.  So excited by the TIMELINE that Mike is keeping - so thankful this is NOT a Chris and Sara project!

 

The adventures continue in Stowe VT (Epic pass day 13/14/15)

Heard about Stowe - adorable village, great ambiance, but never bought into the extra 2 hours to get there.  

Until COVID and life with the Maybetters.  

Mary and Tom LOVE Stowe and have found memories dating back to newly married.  So we added a weekend to our winter wonderland.  Being able to leave one ski weekend knowing you have another planned  - blessed.  

Lizzy had the idea of dressing up our ski gear.  I was TOTALLY on board until I forgot and she remembered.  She ROCKED the Cheshire cat.

Day 1 was beautifully snowy - like a snow globe really.

Major wreck by the kids - unusual for them.

It continues - I LOVE seeing the snow even reflected in the picture.

The normally ROCK the mountain.  I think they had goofy juice today.

Now lets explore the gondola life.  Aside from the snooty lift attendant it was quite pleasurable.

our accommodations were sprawling - the windows were big and beautiful letting the view of the snow be fully enjoyed.  Only draw back - the oven didn't heat up properly.  We benefitted with TAKE out!  As adults we even escaped to explore a delicious Mexican restaurant and have cactus!  

Day 2 - Blue Bird day!

Our kids will scale the oddest trails for one drop.

This was the day Mary and I stood at the top of the mountain while the kids CRUSHED a double black diamond full of moguls.  2 dude looking millennials stood off to the side deciding their mogul trail - looked at each other and said - those kids 'f-ing bombed this trail'  

Yes, yes they did.  Back on their A-game - 

Proud mommas! Love that we have been rocking the slopes since our HS days at MT, Snow.  we continue the adventure that these mountains bring us with our families.

Maybe we are going a bit down hill.....

Drew man took a BIG tumble, hitting thick snow and catching an edge.  Its not often you see this one slow down.  yOu can see it in his eyes.

Stowe had different 'lunch reservation' requirements.  But that didn't stop the Maybetter sandwich shop - we can eat in the parking lot too.  Honestly another blue banner weekend.

 

Out with the OLD and IN with the NEW (Bathroom and Car)

There is something SO satisfying about starting a project from the studs.  Its a clean slate.  A fresh place to start.  Should I mention that all this demo was done while we were GONE.  Who is the scheduling genius??

In other news - the whole car selection process was truly blissful.  We test drove the Telluride (AMAZING CAR, just comes with a price tag we just weren't ready to swallow, Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse, Hyundai Palisades) it came down to the GMC Acadia - 2017 to ensure the bigger body style.  Than we choose the color - white, maroon or blue.  Shane choose the blue.  

We have only good things to say about CARMAX.  They were wonderful to work with.

With the yellow bow on there I am thinking this just might be perfection!  This really feels like the next chapter of our lives.  I mean, the kids know how to close doors and everything right?  AWD is a requirement for winter Leadbetter life.
