Its Monday morning - and I guess I had a rather ambitios list for a Monday morning of summer vacation and 3 boys at home..... But why does it have to WWF every day in the house. We spent the weekend playing at the pool, packing, having a great party, packing, fireworks, packing - so monday monring I have to loose ends to tie up and why does doing that make me want to tie up my children.
One of the things I wanted to do was blog the awesome advenures we are and have been on (but surely that wont happen as I need to stay up til midnight to do that) another is prep for teaching my last body pump class - I place I love to be - I place that I feel good about what I do.
But instead I want to rant these three sentences while I beg nick to write 1 sentence in his writing journal - ask Shane to stop talking for 60 seconds and work with Drew's terroist demands as we try to induce him to a nap - which we will than proceed quitely around the house in fear of waking him.... paradise right??
I guess the alternative is 24/7 TV and Wii but I have to admit - after too much of that, my kids aren't fun to pay with and having it on makes their momma nuts too -
Are my kids just nuts?
Is their momma just unprepared
Are my standards too high - should I just icolate myself in the basement for sanity?
We were just at the park this morning nad I realized I never took Nick fishing there - the idea of doing it now with worms and Drew and everything else - forget it...
I love summer - but I don't love this...........

Sweet Shane
How does this happen?
Well, when you move, you unsecure bookcases from the wall and you think to yourself- the kids never climb the bookcases anyway - so no need to re secure them in their temporary spot right??? Wrong...6:30 Sunday morning and one came crashing down on Shane - he was scaling to the top to get his decoratively placed alligator stuffy.... when I made it to his room the bookshelf was on top of him and he was in shock - meaning scared and crying.... We dusted him off and let him chill a bit....
It was father's day and Chris opted for a bike ride in the AM while I opted for church as our beloved pastor was giving his final sermon (he and his family is moving too...) I was sitting right next to Megan and her family as Jim began to speak. Than a tap on my shoulder from Marlena - Shane just threw up - What?? Poor guy?? Now what?? PEDs ER I guess - Megan was such a huge help covering down on kids and sending me off with direction. Its crazy how there becomes a bit of clarity in these situations... but only a bit...
So here is Shane - wow - that is a BIG machine.

Brrrr its summer
One of the things I get frustrated by in the summer time is how COLD it is INSIDE! I took the boys to a lunch at Red Robins - we were SO COLD we had to snuggle VERY close - thanks for the snuggle - but geesh, I really just wanted to eat my cheeseburger and fries
On another random note - I love this light!! I saw it in Kallen's Piano teachers house - had to 'file is away'
Birthday boys
Wednesday we got to celebrate 2 birthdays in one day!
After lavishing Chris with a yummy breakfast burrito meal to send him to work with a full belle - we than popped over to Aidan's house for a special birthday song with our hat too =)!
Nick got to go to How to train your Dragon 2 - with Aidan, Dawn and Evan that morning - huge success and a great birthday morning.
Later that day we had a wonderfully relaxed pool afternoon with the Leadbetters. Wyland, Shannon, Wyland and Robbie came as well. It was the perfect afternoon to lounge in the pool. It felt so 'normal' to have a birthday afternoon surrounded by family.
We were so fortunate to celebrate this incredibly special man today - 38 years young Christopher. I admire your level headedness, your ability to dream outside the box and make it all happen. You are an amazing father and our kids love you to the moon and back - almost as much as I do.
Thank you Barbara and Wyland for hosting a wonderuful afternoon.
After that celebration - Wyland and Shannon will finish their move to MD, Wyland and Barbara will pack their bags headed to Russia and Chris and I are packing up for CT - Is there a family out there with as much going on? I doubt it.

More chaos and relaxation - if that is possible...
Saturday morning - more chaos - How does a family pack with 3 HIGHLY active boys in a TINY town home.... One parent gets the kids and one gets the boxes.... Today I think I got lucky!

When we got together with them over Chris's birthday we commiserated over the move and hoe all couples seem to attack it differently - Shannon and Chris would preferr to pack up things along the way and take week - Wyland and I would like to be miserable and exhausted for 96 hours not changing clothes and just knocking it out. Next time we move we will switch spouses for a 'moving study'....
Schools out for SUMMER
So glad I have pictures to look back on - or I would think minus the teeth and hair cut Nick looks totally the same... Wrong. This year in 1st grade was a true eye opener for him. He REALLY learned to read - I mean they gave him such a boost and I LOVE listening to his voice read so fluently. He loves science and learning stuff - wether about Alaska, George Washington or Matter - he is becoming a bit of an expert.

Funniest part of the morning - as the bus pulled away and I with my camera turned around at MY bus stop buddies and said, now I want YOUR photo!! There were a few groans as I will be the first to admit - I don't come dressed for the bus stop - ok. I come dressed, but that is about it most days = Other folks have to rush off to work, so we often envy how put together they look but not their alarm clock!!
So here are the everyday folks I will miss - we are so close to the bus stop that si could really just let nick out solo. But I choose to go outside almost every morning just to say hi to this crew - or raise my coffee cup to them.

Here we go - pomp and circumstance and all.... Open Arms Preschool graduation Wednesday morning at 10AM (when he is normally IN preschool and I am knocking out kidless activities.... not today)

This year Shane became a bit more vocal with his teachers (he was SUPER quiet last year) He can recognize letters, plays well with other kids (as long as they want to play sports)... Loved their time with animals. His best buddy Evan missed graduation due to LARGE tonsils needing to be removed....
He has such an enduring heart.
But I am not sure he picked up the singing thing...
His teachers were just wonderful. Thank you Ms Dusti and Ms Kathy! We will miss you.

More days like this part 2
On that note - everyday is cherished for MANY MANY reasons and here was a particular special Friday - for its average wonderful stuff. Drew and I had a lazy morning and around 11 we got a wonderful note from our best buddies - Megan and Nolan were getting kick out of their house by the cleaners and need a place to nap. PLEASE COME! Megan and I got to chill while the boys slept - it was a truly special treat as normally one of us take napping boys etc... But to have company while nap? Wonderful. Thanks Megan.
Now - this is about what it looks like every day after the bus comes. Dawn and I are outsdie while the boys drag out every whelled vehicle, ball and game. Its a bit stressful with the street, cars, kids...

So it was an average and extraordinary day - all at the same time. Between Megan and Dawn the 2 ladies I literally see every day - they know I am still breathing - they know if the day is fun or tough. I love these ladies and their families and will miss our every day relationship as I treasure it EVERY DAY --
Now these 2 - never seen such besties at this age - Pretty sure they share the same brain - mostly because they have a hard time sharing the same toy....

After a little chocolate milk - this game ensued - Hardest I have laugh since the muddy poo. Kids are hilarious.

So its really happening right?? POD #1 showed up May 31- It made it VERY real for our neighbors too. Lots of questions, timelines etc... We snagged this POD to load up all the 'extras'. In our town home - when you pack a box there really aren't many spots to put it - here in lies the POD idea.
Shane was mesmerized by the landing... (honestly, me too)

Sunday was a flurry of packing and loading and a moment to take this photo. I was so touched when I posted this on FB to receive all these notes - I wanted to record them as well. A treasure.
Here is the POD departure later that Thursday - something about this photo isn't as exciting - makes me a bit sad. All emotions involved with moving - all of them.
