Made it back to Chicago and checked into our 15th floor Springhill room. We got a corner which made us feel extra special. Dropped our bags and headed for Navy Pier. The city takes some navigating, but it isn't too hard. A few bridges here and there. I want to remember driving along lower wacker street for just a bit too long....

We made it to Navy Pier - in time to see the end of the sunset. There were 2 party boat that almost looked like prom - maybe a frat formal? Needless to say, some of those girls looked cold and I am OLD for saying that!

Next up - DINNER! We didn't make reservations and on Saturday night in Chicago maybe that wasn't the best planning, but as luck would have it, we made it almost back to our hotel and found a spot in a famous pizza spot with only a 25 minute wait. THAT is success

Sunday morning and this was my gym buddy! Chris joined us too.
It was a rainy dreary day and in Chicago that meant rather chilly too. Liz had recommended a architecture boat tour and it was a WIN!
Our tour guide was a stand up comedian (but didn't tell us that until the end). he was FABULOUS. especially with this small crew. I just started following him - @scoochie_boochie wiht a new holy roller podcast called Holysmokes
See all those empty seats. We were all in the 3 rows under the tarp. The lady in front and her umbrella and later abandoned her post to the covered area below. There was a moment when I had to go downstairs for a bit too.
Here is the "King and Queen' The Sears - now "Willis" tower as the King and the one next to it (I don't remember the name, but queen is fitting.
The building in the back with the round gold circle also had a blimp parking spot. Needless to say blimps just didn't take off.
Coming back from turning around at Navy pier. To the right is the only sky scraper on the pier that got through a loop hole in the planning and zoning. It is private rental apartments. I really like the wavy one on the right was is the tallest building designed by a female architect.
When we got off the boat, we were WET and cold. our first stop was crumble cookie, but there wasn't seating.... so we walked into the warm open arms of the Nutella store.
Not a bad choice in the place!
Next up - the BEAN!
A pretty unique arti exhibit who's foundation was under construction. So this was as close as we all got.
Next up, grab the car and head to Wriggly field for a Cubs vs. LA Dodgers game.
as a weather update, it did not get warmer and it DID NOT stop raining. Matter of fact it got worse. We proved to be a hearty bunch and got through 2 innings before headed downstairs for famous Chicago Hot dogs.
No ketchup for anyone! Table is the top of a trash can, Drew noted this was rather convenient

From here we found a bar to watch the IOWA vs. USC girls Bball game. Tough game - still love Caitlin! Time to pay the massive Chicago parking bill and head to Wisconsin!
