On December 26 it was a magnetic pull to the mountains for ALL OF US! We started from Stuttgart, the Mays were driving in from a night in Salzburg and the Briggs were landing in Munich that morning. Everyone with the same destination in the GPS.
First stop for the Leadbetters to get the Austria driving pass - and some coffee from Wayne =)!

Love this capture of the mountains that are right around the corner from where we stayed. We popped into the grocery store to get some basics before hitting the VRBO.
We truly are beyond blessed - everyone arrived safely!!
The adults went out for a German meal. We left the kids to fend for themselves with spätzle, pizza etc. We came home to be locked out and couldn't find the kids anywhere..... until we looked in the sauna.....
They also made this tic tok video that I giggle at every time I see it.
In the morning we sent Nick and some buddies to get brochen and other treats. He asked them 'spachense English' and the instant response was 'nein' stopped him in his tracks a bit - but he preserved and came home with breakfast!
Love that this is my lifetime buddy - from HS to having our families be such a big part of each other's lives. We are so blessed!
Lets hit the slopes - gotta admit, the first day was a PROCESS. rentals, parking etc. I think we were on the slopes by 12? Is that right? Nice pink helmets boys!
We made it to the top just in time for snack time!
While the snow wasn't epic, the views and experience sure was! Kids found an untouched portion under the lift that they lapped. We found the European's didn't ski off the trail. Since our crew found no issue doing these, there WAS some fresh POW to discover. Mission accepted.
After a great day exploring the sun was setting as we were leaving the mountain - so of course we needed to stay!

Later that night we walked down to the town near our VRBO - it was just dancy enough to text the big kids and ask them to come join us. LOVED having them. They had a few more drinks and went on with the dads while the moms walked home for bed. I was up when they came home and hope to remember how adorably giddy they were!

Day 2 - we had some additional exploring to do.

We had to wait of course - but the Aperol spritzers together helped with the wait time. Plus the kids happily strolled the streets
Love the adventurous nature in each one of us! We are better together!! Fortunate families for sure!
The food that night was a combination of beautiful and delicious! - its not often in Germany that you get so much color on your plate!
Day 3 entailed some more adventuring but no new snow. That really doesn't seem to stop anyone, but it made for slower mornings which was helpful in the jetlag department.

Our final night in Kitzbühel we tried to go to a fondue restaurant at the top of the mountain - not Kitzbühel, the closer mountain - but it was FULL of sketchy traverses. We drove up way too far and should have turned back sooner. We finally gave up after much white knuckle driving and found a great spot at the base of the mountain.

Love that everyone was 'onboard' with a final photo shoot - challenge was finding all the hats! This photo captures so many genuine smiles after - SOMEONE farted!
No farting here - at least that we can smell?
