We made it to Madison just before sunset - drove by the campus and straight to the capitol! Such a cool walkable thriving city. It felt so good and clean after leaving Chicago. Of course it was helpful that it wasn't raining here either.

I have to say this trip so far (rain aside) was everything I was hoping for. Meals with no phones, exploring cool cities, sharing hotel rooms. Loved being together as a family
Madison is a city I was always intrigued by. I had no idea it was this beautiful. Love capturing this photo that was inside of a bank.

Monday morning and our first oficcial tour. Nick registered and the 2 of us attended. We had NO IDEA what to expect. We were there an hour early, checked in and wet touring a bit. Engineering hall not too far away.
The school had a fun little city feel. The weather was just perfect for exploring

had to capture the construction site for the new computer science building. Love the job trailer on top of the conex - brilliant really.
While Nick and I were first ones to check in, the auditorium filled by the time the 10:30 session started. I would say it was at least 150 folks. Majority of them out of state.
Here we are in the library quad. Love the red brick building back there. Brings some cool character to the place. Built in the 1800s. Used to have the Basketball program in it.

This one is unique with the north Shore element. This lake freezes to 1.5' feet. They skate, play hockey and even have a winter carnival on it. It is a s school of 4 seasons.
One of the big things UW promotes is its research focus -
We found a student hang out room with all these pool tables, bowling alleys' and a climbing wall. listening to the tour there is NEVER a lack of things to do here.
Just so happens we were here DURING the solar eclipse. Great place to be!
Glasses, telescopes, fan fare - everything you would expect from a college campus for a cool event like this.
on our way out we drove by the North Shore dorms. right along the lake. The fitness center was NUTs - including a skating rink, Olympic pool and state of the art fitness equipment. Most of the intermural sports are played on the fields there.
the personality of the school was so enriching. Its amazing to me that kids can have an experience like this and exposure to such activities. I felt so blessed to get to experience this through Nick's eyes. How amazing the decisions he gets to make in just a year. The idea of him making any one of these amazing universities home is just beautiful - no doubt he will make the most of any experience!
