I want to remember this weekend for exactly how it was. Filled with so many friends and adventures and just enough. After the first 3 days of school and the promise of a new routine it felt like time for a neighborhood happy hour. Yet since our house wasn’t ready, how about the driveway?
YES YES YES YES YES
So we did it and it was awesome! About 20 of our neighbors showed up of all ages —wether their kids were headed off to college, or into kindergarten it was a great night of connecting and sharing life in the hood. We put cones out for the kids to be able to bike in the street—all scooterswere OUT! They may share the same bus stop but this gave them a chance to hang out too! We even managed to bring the fire pit out to give us all something to gather around. Success!
Saturday Chris and I stole the morning to bike with each other while the kids settled into a show. Now that is a new stage of life. After that he headed to MA with Shane and nick for a cool golf tournament and I took drew to the Briggs lake house to feel like a big kid. He even rocked the knee boarding! Amazed by what a strong-try anything kid he is.

Sunday—yoga class, start deck tear down (just a portion in prep for possible expansion) than Labor Day BBQ at a new family (remember forming this new friends no matter how long you have been somewhere it’s still special to be invited and included. It was a full house with a pool (and a basketball hoop that instantly fell on a kiddos head right when we got there. He left to get a few stitches and came right back. Was enriching to be with families we see often but don’t have the opportunity to connect with. That we had to leave and instantly switch gears and prep to spend the night that the Briggs lake house. There were plenty times when we though twice, taking Nora to my Folks, forgetting life vests, herding cats—General life. But getting up there and being welcomed by such a great family and playing an intense game of ‘youve got crabs’ makes for a great one.. the next morning waking up to the serenity of the lake was worth every second of the effort.

My favorite aspect of the day was as 2 more boats were pulling into Rebecca’s house with plenty more families and kids, her shear joy in seeing so much activity and loving it. A true wonderful host!
Love the time with friends—lazy but not lazy wonderful Labor Day weekend
