Back in the swing

After a long wonderful vacation, its often a bit difficult to get back in the swing.  I knew I would be returning to many empty house without the Tuscany vacation to reunite under (reference to last year)  Walking in after a LONG flight our house felt dark, dirty and hot.

its time to turn my attitude around!  Shannon was super sweet and such a welcoming face at the airport.  Eleanor popped over for dinner on Tuesday so we could catch up and Natalie called to check in on us ready to restart playdates, lunch bunch etc...  There is still life here!!

One of our best new discoveries is the Denkendorf Friebad - German buddies, if you haven't been there yet, its a MUST.  There are 4 HUGE pools so it never reall feels crowded.  its perfect for munchkins at Nick and Shane's age as well as their pregnant mommy.
Being back at a German Friebad did wonders for my soul.  Just the relaxed feel of the germans, throw down a towel, strip down your kids, have a beer and stay all day.  They really know how to do the outdoor pool.

Just about EVERYONE wears a bikini - now mind you, there are still only about 40% that really should be in American Standards, but I love how accepting German are of their body.  its quite refreshing and make my pregnant bellie feel quite accepted =)
Here are the boys giving you the tour.  This is the baby pool, its great equipt with a stream and water mill
This is my FAVORITE pool.  its .5Meters deep most spots meaning Shane can stand, I can sit and Nick is perfectly comfortable jumping off the side.  Its a win, win win!!  Chris was the only one that hit the slide so far.  Nick is totally NOT interested.  Some day right?

The other pool is a 50 meter lap pool and they ever have a lane constantly devoted to sport swimming.  The final pool is the diving well that has a 1 and 3 meter spring board as well as a higher platform.  The germans love it while the old lifeguard in me fears it - with a diving background or not!!

But I love how you can come to this pool through the years and progressively move from section to section.

After a day of sunbathing

Its HOT HOT HOT here this week.  high 80s low 90s which means basement sleeping for us - natures airconditioning.

Next nick started school again. He is an old hat at this. Its starting his 3rd year with this school!! Some of his good buddies were coming back and the teachers were the same so the transistion was simple. Chris picked out his first day of school outfit.
Here is Shane's new pal, Travis.  I love watching these two bump along together.
On Sunday Chris took the boys to the airshow for a MUCH needed break for mom.  It was wonderful for everyone!  Shane liked it so much he fell asleep =)  Surprising it wasnt too loud.

synchronized flying - Deakon, I am assuming you learned all this stuff =)
When Chris told Nick they were going to an air show, he though they meant movie - nope, the real thing buddy!  The dudes enjoyed it!

Chris told me about the assortment of planes there in such detail I had to ask, did they have english explainations?  Nope, he just knew them all.  Guess its a guy thing!

Makes me wonder how old that red bull plane is
Just a cute photo to end today - I LOVE the german bikes etc..  On Thursday I took Shane and Nick to the bike store to look for a scooter for Nick and something for Shane (possibly a smaller run bike since his little legs just won't touch for the one we have)  He really took to this cool trike.  We shall see.....
Tomorrow is Lego Land with the Duelley's  Here's hoping Mother nature agrees and we can ride all the rides...  O.k., so the boys can ride all the rides!

Hope you all are enjoying a wonderful family labor day weekend
