Nick Turns 6!!

Nick is 6!!  Time does fly.  The big thing about this year was his anticipation and true excitement to have a special day just for him.  He celebrated both birthdays for his brothers last month and now its HIS TURN.

Before bed he asked me if there would be balloons in his room like Shane and if we could go to the grocery store and tell them it was his birthday like Drew....  Ah, he remembers, that will need to be noted in my brain!

Yes, Nick, there will be balloons
Flown in by Ninjas!
The birthday boy was up at 3:30 - this photo was taken much later
Shane was excited to play Ninja's too
Drew is still wondering what this Ninja thing is all about, but thankful to be included =)
Now its onto the party - its a breezy chilly day - about 48 degrees.  We are thrilled it was sunny so we could still be outside as 11 boys in our little town-home sounds scary....  The kids were happy to be outside anyway.  Chris was a HUGE help as he came home for his extended lunch hour to enjoy the time with the kids too.  The Leadbetters came down too and they were able to tackle Drew while we corralled the big kids.

Teresa added a much needed Happy Birthday Sign that was homemade from her mom for Caz's birthday.
The kids showed up, we handed them a balloon and some swords and off they went across the tennis courts.
Here was one of the games - it was pin the mask on Ninja Nick
The final result of Ninja Nick
Next onto the sneaky snake - rather similar to duck duck goose
Now onto a well desgned and challenging obstacle course
Highlighted by the parents chasing after the tubes as the wind picked them up!  Thanks Dawn and Amy!

Now its time to warm up and have some lunch together
After presents - its CAKE time of course.  Nick LOVED hear the happy birthday to HIM =)

After the yummy cake we went to hand out party favors, but they were stollen!  Lord Garmidon snatched them while we were partying - here was the first clue

Teresa helped me orchaestrate this as I needed help in the 'reading' department.  Caz and Matthew were my 2 star readers that helped the boys with the clues.  I LOVE hearing them read and know it will be just a matter of time for Mr. Nick

Here is the party crew as a whole - as we were packing up Nick was excited to start using one of his gifts - the flag football set.  Dawn and i are quite aware as to how valuable this will be in years to come.  Not only will they use it every day after the bus, but I am certain there will be leadbetter football for Thanksgiving for the next 20 years.
Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for coming down to make this day extra special
Quite a crew
One more birthday celebration with the whole family.  Can you believe Nick said he was full?!?!  No cupcakes
Drew said he would eat nick's
A few more family gifts for Nick to open
Can anyone read the writing on this shirt??  One more reason why i love Diane =)
This has family fun time written all over it - after I assemble all the pieces
I love the true excitement on his face for this photo - he has been asking for football guys for months - My sister bought him a set at the same time Chris and I spotted the Michigan set while in A2, he was over the moon.
The fussball table proved to be fabulous entertainment for the whole family.
So nick, now that you are 6, I love your help setting and clearing the table, helping Shane and Drew with their carseats as you have clearly mastered yours.  Being the fabulous example of great behavior (as difficult as that can be) Picking up and putting away your toys - but could you please sleep in pass 6;30!!  You have such a kind heart, I love your enthusiasm when your dad comes home and the random hugs you offer your mom in her times of stress.  I cannot believe you have been changing our lives for 6 years.  We are so very lucky.  Happy birthday our wonderful Nicholas Roy
