A weekend Away....

Chris came home from work travel just in time to pack for fun travel!  Tough life right??  He switched gears pretty quickly =)  

For Brian's birthday, Farrah started the wheels turning to a fabulous boys weekend away.  Golf, running, super bowl.  What's not to love?  The only link missing in the plan is the wives are in CA, TX and VA - o.k., its not about me.... at the moment....

We are very excited for the boys to have such a fun weekend in Sedona.  Here is Brian, Ben, Chris and Steve - and now Chris will write...

This is my first guest appearance in Sara's blog - hopefully, I can live up to the hype.


Our "Boy's weekend" started on Friday morning with 18-holes of golf at the Seven Canyons Resort.  Best shot of the day has to be of Brian and his sweet red pants.



Clearly the scenery was out of this world.  We were a little surprised to find out the golf course didn't have a liquor license and couldn't sell beer.  No worries, we were well prepared with beer stocked golf bags!

The weather was perfect and that coupled with the great mountain views made all the lost golf balls not seem so bad.

Look who we found roaming around Sedona! 

Deakon was able to join the party a little late (after closing a deal on a helicopter which made it all worthwhile).

After running the Sedona half-marathon we spent the afternoon soaking up the view and the local brew.

The last day we hiked a couple canyons, the cliffs are beautiful and steep and slippery.  100yds into the hike the park service had posted a sign referring to "increased bear activity".  Thankfully, we made more than enough noise and odors (after drinking plenty of beer the day before) to scare off any curious wildlife.

Sedona is world famous for vortexes - who knew? Vortexes are locations of highly concentrated energies conducive to prayer, meditation, and all kinds of other mumbo-jumbo where one can get in touch with spiritual energy. Here was our attempt to find the Boynton Vortex - a 45min climb up a steep slope.  No new spiritual growth but a great view and only a couple of encounters with prickly pear cactus..

Overall, a great weekend with good friends.
