Dining time

As far as meals up at camp, what you bring (or hunt) is what you eat. As part of our planning, Chris orchestrated the meal plan so each family was responsible for coordinating meals for 2 days during the vacation. This gave the other families a break throughout the week. However those days that you are 'on' can be crazy-which means the days 'off' are that much more wonderful, can you imagine feeding this crew?

Did we get them all in?

It takes quite a few coolers to feed this bunch. There were over 240 beers too-all consumed just 10 hours prior to departure.

Having the different families cook meant for a bit more creativity. Hot dogs on the beach? Yes please!

Wait, mac and cheese too- you bet

Quanities are funny too-if you aren't often cooking for 8 adults and 6 kids, it leaves you questioning how many bags of mac and cheese (also if you spend most of your childhood fighting for meals among chris and Wyland you can really be sent into a tail spin). We had mac and cheese the first lunch and as a side several times throughout the week. Good thing it's a kid pleaser

That night was salmon. Now I did mention fishing, but this salmon was caught by another mainer. We did a great job in the consumption department

Meal time cracks me up. With 6 cousins there is always going to be 'disention' among the ranks. As we put the plates in front of them someone will surely dislike eggs, turn their nose up at pancakes, or walk away screaming at sausages. Each parent has fun battling with taste buds and new meals which adds to the charm of a week together. This was the Chris and Sara breakfast taco morning, a Texas favorite for us that was rather unfamiliar to others.

Pirate face lunch anyone?

Looks likes some happy campers;)

S'mores is essential in every camping trip. The eternal debate, golden brown or burned, how do you like your marshmallows?

Sometimes lunch is on the go. This day we took the boats on an all day trek along the river. Perfect little picnic spot on a hot hot day.

Later that day on the river cruise we finally found the sweet spot in the river. The boys managed to ring in 7 fish, a combination of white/yellow perch Made for the perfect appetizer. Here are the fishermen making their best 'fish face'

The break the breakfast table on any given morning.

Snack time was anytime and anywhere with these three. I loved hearing Robbie ask for stashios...
